CINDEV is committed to protecting your personal data in strict accordance with the Kenya Data Protection Act (DPA) of 2019 and the Data Protection (General) Regulations, 2021.

A. Data Collection & Sensitive Personal Data

We collect personal data (names, emails, IP addresses) through contact forms and comments. As an organization involved in health and socio-economic empowerment, we recognize the high threshold for processing Sensitive Personal Data, which under the DPA includes:

• Health status and medical records.

• Family details (including names of children and spouses).

• Property details and financial status (related to our empowerment programs).

• Biometric or genetic data (if applicable during outreach).

B. Data Protection Principles (Section 25)

We adhere to the eight core principles of the DPA:

1. Lawfulness & Transparency: Data is processed only with your explicit consent or for legal obligations.

2. Purpose Limitation: Data is collected for specific, legitimate purposes (e.g., mentorship, health outreach) and not reused for unrelated activities.

3. Data Minimization: We only collect the information absolutely necessary for our programs.

4. Accuracy: We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is accurate and up-to-date.

5. Storage Limitation: We do not keep data longer than is necessary to fulfill the intended purpose.

6. Integrity & Confidentiality: We implement technical measures (encryption, secure servers) to prevent unauthorized access.

7. Data Portability: You have the right to request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

8. No Cross-Border Transfer: Your data is stored within Kenya and will not be transferred outside the country without your consent and proof of adequate safeguards.

C. Your Rights as a Data Subject (Section 26)

Under the DPA, you have the right to:

• Be Informed: To know why and how your data is being processed.

• Access: To request a copy of all personal data CINDEV holds about you.

• Correction/Deletion: To request the rectification of false data or the erasure of misleading information.

• Object to Processing: To stop the processing of your data for direct marketing or profiling.
